Katie Upton Jones

Katie Cecil Upton-Jones, age 89, went home to be with the lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022. She was a member of North Sweetwater Baptist Church and worked for Y12 as a cook for 13 years. She has hosted a radio broadcast every Sunday night for the Oldies 98.3 radio station since 1981 in Sweetwater, TN. She was a member of the Red Hat Lady Association.

She is preceded in death by her mother Frankie Lee Upton and father Derondo Upton, sisters; Alcie Wilkerson, Martha Lee Burton, Addie Jane Upton, brother, Clarence Upton, daughter, Sharon Stone, daughter in law, Chandra Howard.

She is survived by: her husband Neil Jones, sons; Joe (Judy) Howard, Kendall (Deborah) Howard, and Deron Howard. Grandchildren; April Howard, Tasha Clemons, Justin (Thea) Stone, Tanisha Stone, Whitney Wilkerson, Kayla Howard, Ashley (Tyrique) Waters, and Jada Howard. Great Grandchildren; Daona, Steven, and Tre McDermott. Special friend, Mari White-Wilkerson Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens, TN with Rev. Bill Wilson delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
