Gary Tyrone Carter age 65 of Athens, Tennessee passed Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Gary was the son of the late Dorothy Smith and Austine Carter, and his aunt Pearly Mae Smith of Athens, TN.
He is survived by life partner Carolyn 'Sissy' Jones of Athens, TN his son Anfeny Carter of Youngstown, Ohio, and special closed cousins Armetta Murdic of Athens, TN and Patricia Fowler of Kansas City, Mo., other cousins Gloria Jones of Loudon, TN and Gale Montgomery of Knoxville, TN., Ashley Murdic, JaSaun Wooden and Zane Byas of Athens, TN., and many other relatives in the Ohio area.
Funeral services will be held in Youngstown, Ohio and a date will be announced.
