Floyd Winston Blair age 71 departed this life December 29, 2021 at Vanderbilt Medical Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Floyd attended Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville, TN., where he graduated and learned to live a productive life as a young deaf man. He started working for Cletus Benton at Shoney’s Restaurant and was there over 25 years. He had a love for UT Knoxville Vols and attended as many games as possible and was also a Tennessee Titan fan.
He was baptized on February 1, 1986 at First Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN., where he was a member until he moved to Clarksville, TN in 1995. He was employed at Gaylord Opryland Restaurant, Cracker Barrell and at Old Chicago for over 14 years until his death. If you ever worked with him you knew he was a hard worker and did his job well.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gaine and Eloise Blair, stepmother Eula Dean Porter Blair, brother, Vastin M. Blair, grandparents, Floyd and Frances Blair, Clifford and Marie Gaines, nephews, Corey Blair, and Joshua A. Blair.
Left to cherish his memories are three brothers, William Stanley(Florence) Blair of Nashville, TN., Edward Lee (Vicky) Blair and Richard S. Blair all of Cleveland, TN. Three sisters, Sandra E. Blair, Una Octavia Blair both of Cleveland, TN., and Pandora E. Westfield of Chattanooga, TN. Nephews, Kerry (Angela) Blair of Elizabethon, TN., Theron Blair, Michael(Cindy) Kirkpatrick, Corey Moore, Anthony Dyshaun(Brittany) Ware, and Swan Parker all of Cleveland, TN. Nieces, Lesia McCruter, Carolyn(Ronald) French. Carla Blair of Nashville, TN., Deanna Brooks, Carma Blair both Cleveland, TN., Cicely Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Natosha Blair of Chattanooga, TN. Aunts, Magnolia Blair of Madisonville, TN., and Lillian Gaines of Cleveland, TN. Seventeen great nieces and nephews, six great-great nieces, and nephews. Larry Armour , Floyd’s childhood friend from Tennessee School for the Deaf for over sixty years. Many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN. with Minister Martha Tibbs officiating. Interment will follow after the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
There will be a walk through visitation of friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the church. Implementation of COVID-19 will be in affect, social distancing will be observed, and all that attend must wear a mask.
