Doris Mayes

Doris Evelyn King Mayes, age 85 a resident of Riceville Tn. died peacefully among her children at her daughter's home in Cleveland TN January 28, 2026. She was a devoted loving mother. She attended J. L. Cook High School in Athens Tn. She was a member of Household of Faith C.O.G.I.C. In Cleveland Tn. She was a true home maker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. She loved working in the yardpainting various objects to decorate the yard. Most of all She loved planting her flowers.

She is preceded in death by her Husband James Mayes of Riceville, TN., her parents Daniel L. and Margaret Ann Elder King of Riceville TN. ,Brothers Dana "Dan" Lee ( Deb) King of Detroit MI., Marshall Thomas King of Knoxville TN., Son-in-law Richard B. Morrison of Cleveland TN. , bonus Granddaughter Annette Borkman of Murray County, GA., and great grandson Zavier Adeeko of Cleveland TN.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda R. Mayes of Riceville TN, Leisa A. Mayes-Woods (Donnie), Anita E. Mayes, and Karen E. Mayes Morrison Eady all of Cleveland TN., two sons Elder Elbert Leon Mayes (Betty), and James Ervin Mayes, both of Cleveland TN. Brother, Harry A. King of Cleveland, TN. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Cleveland, TN, with pastor Rev. Clifton Braden delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Cleveland, TN.
