Delia Blair Liggett Crawford, age 66, passed away on November 14, 2025, in Chattanooga, TN. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ernest Eugene Westfield and Delia Bell Westfield, James Jefferson Liggett and Maryetta Woods Liggett, as well as her loving parents, Aaron Franklin Liggett and Ezra Lee Liggett, and her father and mother-in-law, Reverend Augustus Jerome Crawford and Martha Ann Crawford.
Delia graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1978, where she was very active in the Health Occupations Students of America(HOSA), ROTC, and was recognized by the TN State Board as a certified health assistant. She attended Cleveland State Community College, aiming to become a nurse. She worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital before her lifelong fight with chronic kidney disease (CKD). She was an advocate for advancing nephrology research in the African American community by joining various clinical trials and focus groups sponsored by Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) and the Tennessee Kidney Foundation. She was a proud charter member of Kidney Center of Cleveland.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN, and loved visiting the Temple Church in Nashville, TN. She enjoyed gospel and jazz music, completing word search puzzles, and reading the Bible.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Orlando Jerome Crawford of Cleveland, TN, and one daughter, Delisha Blair Crawford of Mount Juliet, TN. Special cousins include Marquis D. (Alma) Dotson, Jr.; Pamela V. (Robert) Bright; Taunya Kay Dotson; Tyrone (Lisa) Dotson; and Walter (Jill) Dotson. Theodore Westfield, and Kim Hammonds. Her dialysis care team, Sharon Edney, Sherret Long, and many very special friends.
Homegoing services and a celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Edward S. Robinson Sr. delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
