Ms. Clara Reid Swafford, age 85 was welcomed into her eternal home, in the comfort of her home in Cleveland, TN., Monday, March 16, 2026.
Clara was born June 6, 1940 to the union of the late Charlie Marion and Conas A.M. Bryant, in Decatur (Meigs County), TN. Clara attended Booker T. Washington High School in Chattanooga, TN., and was a loving stay at home Mom to her children.
Clara was a faithful member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church until ill health prevented her from attending. She loved her family and church. She loved people and never turned anybody away from her home. She loved sitting in her carport watching her neighbors and visiting with family and friends.
Clara is proceeded in death by her parents, her devoted husband Roy Gene Swafford, her eldest son Tony M. Bryant, her brothers, Billy Peak, and Charlie LaVern (Debra) Bryant, two sisters, Beatrice Swafford, and Shirley (Edward) Robinson.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, four sons, Gary, Teddy, Kenny, and Titus(Amanda), two daughters, Carla Ann and Genia (Ernest) all of Cleveland, TN. Two brothers-in-law, Charles Swafford, Scott Swafford and two sisters-in-law, Diane Swafford and Elizabeth Woods.
18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, dear friends Ruby Jean Moore and Aunderice Nance and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends community wide.
Homegoing celebration service will be held Monday, March 23, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Blair Rd Cleveland, TN., with Rev. Edward S. Robinson Sr. delivering the eulogy and pastor Rev. J.D. Bruce officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Interment services will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
