Ben Kimpson was born on February 12, 1951, to the late Albert Kimpson and Lue Vance Kimpson. He departed this life on June 11, 2026 surrounded by the love of family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love.Ben came from a large and loving family and enjoyed farming and outdoor activities throughout his youth. He attended J.L. Cook High School and continued his education as his family relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, and later Indiana. In 1970, he returned to Tennessee, where he built a life centered around family and community.For 35 years, Ben was a dedicated employee of Brown's State Foundry. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help others.
His commitment to providing for his family and his determination to work hard were qualities that defined his life.Ben shared four children with Mattie Craig: Sabrina, Melinda, Trey, and Bengie Kimpson. He was also blessed with a son, Corey Wright. Later in life, he married Jeanette Kimpson, and they remained devoted to one another until her passing.
Ben was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lue Vance Kimpson; his father, Albert Kimpson; his brothers, Elbert Leonard Kimpson and Albert Kimpson Jr.; his wife, Jeanette Kimpson; and the mother of his children, Mattie Craig.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Trey Kimpson (Sharon) of Athens, Tennessee; Bengie Kimpson of Calhoun, Tennessee; Corey Wright (Patricia) of Boston, Massachusetts; Melinda Kimpson (Johnny) of Athens, Tennessee; and Sabrina Kimpson and special son-in-law Bradford Abernathy of Athens, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his cherished stepchildren: Diane Ford of Englewood, Tennessee; Ted Millsaps of Athens, Tennessee; and Bo Crawford (Angel) of Fort Hood, Texas.Ben was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Tashea Gordon, Tylin Gordon, Aniya Noland, Morgan Griffin, Brianna Singh, Brandon Kimpson, Artez Kimpson, Tyreek Kimpson, and Daylin Kimpson, along with a host of beloved great-grandchildren.He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Danetta Wilson (Ronald), Ruby Rogers of Sweetwater, Tennessee; Helen McCroskey (Freeman) and Willie Jones (Nelson) of Atlanta, Georgia; Mary Johnson (Jerome) of Kissimmee, Florida; Linda Beard of Calhoun, Tennessee; and Joe Kimpson of Calhoun, Tennessee. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gracie Hicks (Michael) of Cleveland, Tennessee, Karen Minnis (Brian), and Ora Buckner (Jenny) of Meigs County, Tennessee, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.Ben will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those around him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Calhoun, TN. with Rev. Mae Hammonds officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Lebanon Church cemetery.
