Dr. Alfreada Henley Westfield, beloved wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, loving sister, special aunt, and faithful friend, entered eternal rest on November 6, 2025, at the age of 74.
Born on July 12, 1951, to the late Homer Eugene and Anna McKissic Henley, Sr., Alfreada lived a life marked by prayer, compassion, courage, adventure, and unwavering faith. She was a radiant presence in every room—quick to listen, slow to judge, and always ready with a prayer or a warm embrace. Her love was not loud, but it was deep and constant, a quiet strength that held families together and lifted spirits in times of need. She was a member of Tree of Life Messiah Congregation with Rabbi Jack Zimmerman in Scottsdale, Az.
Alfreada was a 1969 graduate of Loudon High School. She attended East Tennessee State University, where she obtained a Bachelor's and a Master of Science degree. She earned her Doctorate in Ministry. Her chosen career as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist took her to many places, such as King Fahad Hospital in Saudi Arabia and the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Sitka, Alaska. She retired in Phoenix, AZ., spending her time traveling the world, and relishing God’s creation. She was a spirit-fill author writing about the power of prayer ministry in her book “The Chosen”.
She served as a Captain in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, a uniformed service under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was part of a division of the U.S. Navy.
God blessed her with a prayer ministry, and she used it every chance she got. She and her brother traveled with Evangelist Lufile Ehambe throughout the Southwest and Southeastern United States.
Alfreada was a woman of prayer. Her relationship to her Heavenly Father was one that radiated trust, intimacy, and unwavering devotion—a sacred bond woven through quiet mornings, tearful intercessions, and joyful praise. She walked with her Heavenly Father not just in church pews, but in hospital rooms, kitchen corners, and everyday moments, carrying His peace like a lantern in the dark. Her life was a living testimony that prayer is not just a practice, but a posture of the heart—anchored in grace, lifted by hope, and sustained by love. She lived her life like she preached; she was a woman of God who loved people and never met a stranger.
As Luther's wife, she exemplified a partnership founded on grace and laughter. As a mother, she poured out wisdom, tenderness, and fierce devotion. As a sister and friend, she was a confidante, a cheerleader, and a steady light in stormy seasons. Her joy was a gift from God.
Her faith in Christ was the cornerstone of her life. Whether singing praises in the kitchen, leading prayer services, or simply offering kindness to strangers, Alfreada lived the Gospel with humility and joy. She believed in resurrection and now rests in the arms of her Savior, free from pain, surrounded by glory.
She is survived by her husband of nearly twenty years, Luther Westfield; her daughter, Garnetta Holloway, Vancouver, WA; her bonus daughter, Heather (Corey) Geanes, Murfreesboro, TN; her grandchildren (her joy), Jayden Evans and CJ Geanes, Murfreesboro, TN; her bonus son, Luke (Neda) Westfield, II. Durham, NC, sister, Acquilla Henley Harley, Loudon, TN; two brothers, Tim V. Henley, Loudon, TN, and Rev. Homer Eugene (Belinda) Henley, Jr., Cleveland, TN. Sister-in-law Joann Sanders, Ooltewah, TN: Brothers-in-law Nathan (Brenda) Westfield, Cleveland, TN; Anderson (Jackie) Westfield, Cleveland, TN; Tony Westfield, Chicago, IL; Loyd (Laura) Westfield, Germany, many cousins, friends, and her friends in Alaska, and her dog Bootsy.
She is also lovingly remembered by her special friends who walked beside her through seasons of joy and challenge, offering steadfast love and laughter: Pastor Lufile Ehambe, Alberta Jones, Sally Masi, Corliss Rusting, Jackie Harris, Teri Lundy, and Dolly Didrickson. Their friendship was a source of deep comfort and delight, and their bond with Alfreada was a testament to the power of chosen family.
Alfreada was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents Evan D. and Mae A. McKissic; paternal grandparents William and Ida Wilson Henley. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched, every prayer she whispered, and every act of love she gave without asking for anything in return.
